Shielding Distributions
In particle environments with steeply falling spectra, such as solar particle ("flare") environments, accurate SEU calculations require careful treatment of the distribution of shielding thicknesses surrounding the device. The CREME96 nuclear transport module (TRANS) allows you to input such a distribution. The first column specifies the thickness in mils and the second column specifies the fraction of coverage.
This shielding distribution file must have a particular format. The following text contains a typical shielding distribution. You should enter your own shielding distribution in a similar fashion.
100,0.1 200,0.2 300,0.3 400,0.4
To create it, write the shielding distribution into a text file and save it with a '.shd' extension. In your directory, choose 'file' from the 'add new' drop down menu.
