STASS: Trapped Proton Flux
Overview
STASS provides input data to LET, SPEC, and BENDEL on the trapped proton flux, averaged around the spacecrafts' orbit. It is a simple program that transforms unformatted hand input into formatted output for use as input data in CREME main programs.
Inputs
Data for STASS should come from the "Averaged Differ. Flux, #/cm2/sec/keV" column of "Composite Orbit Spectrum" tables. These are typically included in a National Space Science Data Center report such as Stassinopoulos (1981) or Stassinopoulos (1982).
Output
It outputs a two-column file: the first column is energy in MeV; the second column is differential flux in protons/(cm2-sec)/keV. This file must be renamed to STASS.DAT before it can be used as input. Note that the trapped proton contribution to SPEC, LET, or BENDEL can be omitted by creating a STASS.DAT file with zero fluxes.
